Buffalo and a large portion of the United States are devastated by a winter storm, which is accompanied by subzero temperatures.

Storm brings Buffalo, New York, to a standstill overnight and into Saturday. Hundreds of people stuck in vehicles with no way for rescue workers to reach them. Emergency vehicles themselves were stuck in the snow. More than 27.8 inches of snow fell at the airport in Buffalo. FedEx says delays could be expected for deliveries through Monday.

The storm carved a 2,000-mile path across much of the U.S. from Canada to Mexico. Even Chicago and Detroit shut down holiday attractions and urged people to stay inside.
