Trump supporter Rep. Jim Banks declares his candidacy for the Indiana U.S. Senate seat

Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind) announced a 2024 bid for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday. Banks lost his bid to be House majority whip late last year. He is seeking the GOP nomination to succeed Sen. Mike Braun, who is running for governor. Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) is running for the Indiana Senate.

Banks served in the administrations of presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. The race could be a split between the far-right wing and the more establishment Republicans, who are likely to favor former Gov. Mitch Daniels.
