George Santos, a representative-elect, recognizes “résumé decoration” but provides little financial details.

Long Island Republican George Santos won a U.S. House seat in November. Questions have been raised about whether Santos fabricated much of his biography. Santos says “a lot of people overstate in their résumés,” he tells New York’s WABC radio. In his first bid for Congress, Santos said he would pledge not to take a salary.

By the time he filed his 2022 financial disclosure, he was worth millions of dollars. Most of that wealth came from a Florida company in which he was the sole owner.
