For the time being, the Supreme Court upholds the Title 42 border policy.

Title 42 allows quick expulsion of migrants from U.S. borders without opportunity to seek asylum. The Trump-era policy, known as Title 42, had been set to expire last week. Court will consider whether states have legal standing to intervene in the dispute. Thousands of migrants have been crossing outside of the legal border entry points. A federal judge vacated Title 42, citing no evidence that it protected public health.

Republican state officials asked the Supreme Court to intervene in the case. The Biden administration agreed the policy should end as it struggled to deal with the influx.
