Opinion Democrats are saving families a lot of money on health care. It’s a big deal.

Julian Zelizer: Republicans are trying to distract voters from the Inflation Reduction Act. He says the bill's health-care provisions will save Americans a lot of money. The bill would allow Medicare to negotiate prices with drug makers with the goal of driving down costs, he says. Zelizer says families who save $1,000 or more will see it as cost reduction; GOP will likely follow suit in the House, which is expected to pass on Friday. He adds that every single Republican senator voted against the bill; House Republicans will follow suit. Zelizers: Inflation remains a major issue for most Americans; inflation is 8.5 percent higher than a year before; wages have increased less than inflation.
