Hey, do we really need to classify so much of this?

Top-secret security clearance is held by about 1.3 million Americans; 99.7 percent of U.S. population does not have top-secret clearance. 9/11 Commission Report warned in 2004 that security requirements nurture overclassification. No one pays the long-term costs of overclassifying information. Obama signed the Reducing Over-Classification Act in 2010. Six years later he was still decrying how much not-so-revelatory information was labeled classified. The National Archives says of declassifying JFK assassination material, less than 4,400 documents are affected.
