A bigger workplace problem is echoed by a D.C. council member’s charge of health discrimination.

D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson wants to reorganize the council’s committee structure. Ward 7 Council member Vincent C. Gray (D) has asked that Mendelson reconsider his recommendations. Gray, who had a stroke last year, says his ability to communicate is not what it once was. D.C. Mayor Ed Mendelson’s decision to strip City Council member Vincent Gray of his duties seems contrary to the spirit if not letter of the Human Rights Act. Denying people the privileges of employment (job downgrading) based upon physical disability is a serious step.
