Now that the school board could choose its president, they were at a loss for words.

Members of the Prince George’s County school board couldn’t decide on a chair. The board has earned a reputation for internal conflict that has stymied progress. A new law took effect earlier this month that changes the regulations of the school board. Members will try again next month. The Prince George’s school board voted Thursday for a new chair and vice-chair.

Incumbent Juanita Miller is facing charges of misconduct in office, neglect of duty and incompetence. Lolita E. Walker will chair the Jan. 12 meeting, replacing Miller, whose tenure has been controversial.
