Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed six new members to the board of the New College of Florida in Sarasota. The liberal arts honors college is ranked fifth in “top public schools” by U.S. News & World Report. Christopher Rufo, one of the appointments, calls critical race theory “destructive, divisive, pseudoscientific ideology”. Gov. DeSantis wants New College of Florida to be like a “Hillsdale of the South”.
Critical race theory isn’t taught in K-12 schools, though there is institutional racism in this country. Hillsdale’s president is Larry Arnn, who said teachers are trained in “the dumbest parts of the dumbest colleges”.
